I am very vet shy. I've had horror stories so when I looked for a new vet I really did my homework and chose Berry Hill. Besides the reviews, they are privately owned which is becoming increasingly rare. I was not disappointed!! They were genuinely empathetic. I love that they had cats that lived there and cruised around. The front desk staff were too cool and seemed like they liked their jobs (which speaks volumes) and the women I met with for my pup really made me feel like I was in good hands. I feel really good abou tif somethign happens, I'll know where to go.
We've trusted Berry Hill Animal Hospital with our pets for over 15 years, and I can't recommend them highly enough.
We originally started going because they had that rare "old-school," small-town feel where the doctors truly know you and your pets. Dr. Williams was incredibly experienced and had an uncanny ability to recognize what was going on with a sick animal. Dr. Kirkpatrick has done a wonderful job carrying that legacy forward while modernizing the practice. The new location has greatly reduced wait times (a huge plus for anxious cats), and online scheduling and text communication make appointments and follow-up incredibly convenient.
One of BHAH's greatest strengths is continuity of care. Instead of seeing a different veterinarian every visit, the doctors get to know your pets over the years, which makes a real difference when monitoring ongoing health issues. They always make time for urgent appointments, check in after visits, and genuinely care about both the animals and the people who love them. We also love seeing familiar faces like Douglas, Sandi, and Dr. G year after year which is a testament to the kind of practice Berry Hill Animal Hospital has built and the people who choose to stay. Dr. Kirkpatrick has done a wonderful job leading the practice, and the additions of Dr. McElyea and Dr. Miller have been a perfect fit. The entire veterinary team works so well together, and that collaborative spirit comes through in the care they provide. We've especially appreciated Dr. Miller, whose compassion, excellent instincts, and thoughtful approach to care have meant so much to our family.
Where Berry Hill Animal Hospital truly shines is end-of-life care. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest experiences a family can face, and they handle those moments with extraordinary kindness and dignity. Berry Hill Animal Hospital does offer scheduled in-home euthanasia, but when our 15-year-old soul cat, Eureka, declined rapidly, Dr. Miller came to our home on just a few hours' notice so he could pass peacefully in the place he felt safest. I know that level of flexibility isn't something they can always provide, which made their kindness all the more meaningful. To me, it reflects the genuine relationships they build with the families they care for, and it's something we'll never forget and meant the world to us.
If you're looking for a privately owned veterinary practice where relationships matter and your pets are treated like family, I wholeheartedly recommend Berry Hill Animal Hospital.
